The Gateway runs on the Red Hat Linux operating system, and incorporates the Automatic Speech Recognition (ASR), Text-To-Speech (TTS) resources, and the VoiceGenie software needed to handle the entire VXML application.
MTI provides support for several best-of-breed ASR and TTS engines: for ASR, MTI supports multiple languages with both Nuance and IBM. For TTS, MTI supports multiple languages with Nuance OSR, Nuance 9, and IBM. Other engines are available based on customer requirements, such as AT&T Natural Voices or Rhetorical.
